I tried to search for “!linux_gaming@lemmy.ml” and it doesn’t find anything. Instances says this site is linked to lemmy.ml. Am I doing something wrong to subscribe to a community outside of this site? I was able to subscribe to a community on a different site.

Good question. It might be that the lemmy.ml service is still a bit overloaded. You can search for communities across other instances, such as !selfhosted@lemmy.world. You’re it the correct way, sometimes you need to hit search a few times (this is actually documented behavior), as responses from other services can take a while to first populate. Try searching for communities on other instances than lemmy.ml and let me know if they’re successful or not.

I subscribed to a community on ttrpg.network. It has been listed as subscribe pending for a while. Is that because this site needs to approve it, the other site needs to approve it or both? (It doesn’t really matter. I’m just curious how this works.)
